Barone Custom Suiting

    About

    The Art of Custom Suiting

At Barone Antica Sartoria we make getting compliments for our clients the norm of everyday life. There is nothing like a man wearing a well-tailored suit, exuding confidence and elegance.

Our suits are made entirely from scratch and built to complement the specific body type of our clients. The right fit combined with a quality fabric makes a Barone suit the best “weapon” our clients have in their wardrobe.

What differentiates a Barone suit from its competitors and off-the-rack suits is the meticulous attention to detail that goes into the making of every suit. We take more than 30 measurements and elaborate them to create a unique pattern. Our objective is always to design a suit that conceals the shortcomings and emphasizes the assets of the wearer.

We don’t stop at the right fit. We make suggestions and advise our clients on the style, the colors and the patterns, making certain the right choices for their needs are made. Being from Italy, a sense of style is instilled in us at an early age, which allows us to dress our clients with care and confidence, making sure they always make a bella figura, as we say in Italy.

We believe the custom tailoring experience should be unique, personal and most importantly, enjoyable. Our process begins with a consultation in the comfort of your home or office.

During our meeting, the blueprint of your suit is put together: measurements are taken, fabrics are selected, and the cut and details are determined. Each suit is hand-drawn, hand-cut and sewn according to our strict quality standards. A few weeks later, a second fitting is performed, allowing for any minor adjustments that may be needed. Once finished, your suits are then delivered to you in person.

We believe luxury starts with premium materials, so we insist on using only the finest fabrics crafted from the best mills in the world. The choice of material determines wear and appearance, while the canvass construction and hand finish guarantee fit and durability.

At Barone Antica Sartoria we definitely offer the ultimate shopping experience for a tailored wardrobe — from suits, sport coats, shirts, slacks and formalwear.

    Paolo Barone
    Paolo Barone

Hailing from Italy, Paolo Barone, founder of Barone Antica Sartoria, takes his commitment to creating exquisite custom suits for his clientele extremely seriously. “Italians are well-known for their attention to dressing well. We dress to impress. That remains a tradition in the Italian way of living and a standard I have for myself and for my clients,” said Barone.

Inspired by his father, whom Barone admired from an early age for his meticulous sense of style and the way he carried himself in his custom-made suits, Barone is not only passionate about his work, he sees it as an art form that can be tailored to individuals to make his creations truly their own. “I love ‘sculpting’ suits, much like a sculptor who sits down to create from a piece of marble. I create suits for my clients that reflect their personal style, from the fit to the fabric, down to the small details.”

    Our Suits

    It's all about the details

The Highlights of a Barone Suit

When it comes to a well-made suit, details are important. Click on the targets to see the features of a Barone suit.

    Reinforced Jacket Collar Stitching
Our jackets feature reinforced stitching on the underside of the collar. We add five layers of stitching to reinforce stress points and prevent the collar from rolling. We can also add colored felt and embroider the underside of your collar.

    Outstanding Fit
We ensure the highest level of precision and quality when taking your measurements. From these measurements our master tailors create your Barone suit by scratch and by hand. Unlike the majority of off-the-rack suits – which are machined sewn and fused (glued) together, creating an unnatural stiffness – our suits actually conform to your body and over time will mold to your body, allowing the exterior panels to hang naturally.

    Handmade Pick Stitching
Pick stitching refers to the detail on the edges of the lapel that is created through hand stitching (in a color of your choice). It’s considered a classic feature of a high-end jacket and a clear indicator that you’re wearing a handmade garment.

    Built-In Pocket Squares
We use the same lining in your jacket, or a lining of your choice, for a built-in pocket square in the breast pocket. Just reach in and pull out.

    Sweat Shields
We add sweat shields in the underarm of every Barone jacket to add durability and protect the suit from perspiration and odor.

    Custom Linings
The inner lining of your suit or jacket can add style and personality. Choose from hundreds of options – from solids to prints and everything in between.

    Personalized Labels
You’ve taken the time to create your own personalized Barone suit. It’s only right that you put your name to it. We embroider your name on the labels inside your suit jacket and the inner waistband of your pants.

    Full-Canvas Construction
The term “canvassed” refers to the construction of a suit jacket. A canvassed suit jacket has a layer of canvassing material (the canvas), generally comprised of wool and horsehair (sometimes camel), that sits between the outer suit fabric and the inner lining of a suit jacket. While this canvas is hidden from view on the exterior, it plays an incredibly important role in keeping the proper balance, structure and shape of the suit. It’s all about form – the form of the suit to your body. And as you wear a canvassed suit over time, the canvas itself begins to conform to your body’s shape, thereby becoming a better fit the more you wear it.

    Variety of Style
We offer a wide variety of suiting styles to choose from, including jackets, coats, vests, shirts and pants. You choose the details – from cut to stitching to everything in between.

    Rubberized Waistband
Our trousers have a stiffer, thicker waistband that is reinforced to prevent rolling so you can wear with or without a belt. For further reinforcement we place a rubberized strip around the inner waistband to keep your shirt from untucking or moving around.

    Surgeon’s Cuffs (Working Buttonholes)
One of the most well-known features of a high-quality suit – and one of the hallmark details of custom suiting – is the “Surgeon’s Cuff.” Named after military surgeons who had to unbutton and roll up their sleeves to work in the field, this is a detail you’ll definitely want. Leave that last button unbuttoned, showing the world (in a very subtle way) that your suit is indeed one of higher quality.

    Hem/Heel Protective Cuffs
Our pants come standard with cuff protectors – a thin strip of material sewn inside the hem on the heel. Hem/heel protective cuffs add durability to one of the most common wear-and-tear areas of the suit. Our cuffs do not add bulk and help the pants drape better.

    Fabrics

IT ALL BEGINS WITH A FINE CLOTH

Custom suiting is truly an art form. And like any great work of art, it requires the finest materials – in this case, it’s the fabric used in creating your suits. The quality of the fabric greatly influences the way it handles the needle and the performance of your suit – from its cut, to its drape, to its breathability, to its resistance to wrinkles and durability.

At Barone Antica Sartoria we source only the world’s finest fabrics from the world’s best mills, sourcing a majority of our fabrics from the Italian region. The result: strong, superior fabrics in a variety of patterns and colors with superior finishes.

Below are some of the mills we source our fabrics from.

"In Italy, we say, 'fare sempre bella figura,' meaning 'always giving a good impression' – that remains my rule for myself and for my clients."

    – Paolo Barone

    Testimonials

    • “I have been buying suits for the last 20 years and have never had such a unique and wonderful experience as I’ve had with Paolo Barone. He has such a meticulous and disciplined attention to detail at all stages of the process that gives you a level of comfort that is in all respects priceless. I highly recommend him, because if you use his services just one time, he will end up being your custom suit designer & tailor FOR LIFE!”

      Andrew Kahng· Fort Lauderdale, FL
    • “I pride myself in looking my best, as it makes me feel good and gives me the confidence to go about my day. I grew up in the retail business and have always had an appreciation for fashion and style. Paolo and I have been working together for the past few years and I trust his taste and appreciate his close attention to detail. He truly has a passion for helping people look good and he understands the importance of what confidence can do to someone’s appearance. Paolo helps you either create a look or he helps you match a fashion trend to your lifestyle. He is versatile in helping you complete your basic wears and also can help you be a little fashion-forward with some new looks and styles. My wife is always very jealous in how I am able to literally create my own fashion look, where she has to go out and find it. The ease of a tailor coming to your home or office, and the ability for me to create a look from scratch based on my own personal preferences, is not only enjoyable but does not come at excessive cost. Every man deserves to have a custom-made suit – one that he wears for those special events, important meetings or on day when he wants to look his best and have that extra hop in his step.”

      Erik Sherman· Miami, FL
    • “Bespoke is an art, and as with any artist the passion for their craft becomes the defining factor of the work. For almost a decade I worked with other tailors until I met Paolo. His attention to detail, authentic Italian sense of style (Sicilian no less), and unyielding commitment to getting it right are what sets him apart from everyone else. This isn’t work, it’s art! And I will work with no one else.”

      Karim Giscombe· Wellington, FL
    • “I have purchased numerous suits, sport coats, pants and shirts from Paolo. The service, attention to detail, and concern that you look your absolute best is amazing. I have had suits made from other tailors and companies but none have made me feel the way I feel when I am wearing a Paolo Barone Suit. Even presented with the most challenging of body types, Paolo’s suits make you feel and look svelte. I have never worn one of Paolo’s suits without receiving a compliment.”
